A cool day in Michigan forced me to think of what would warm me up. A hot cup of coffee? A shot of tequila? Sure. But that wasn’t what I was thinking of.
How about my personal trifecta of the most handsome, talented, charismatic male actors that put me in a flutter with every word they utter? Ha Ha. I didn’t mean for that to rhyme. Let’s start over. Who are the men that make me smile whenever they’re on the big screen? The men whose movies I have to see at the theater as soon as they open? The men who I stare at in awe while they fill the screen, and my heart, with their presence?
1. Gerard Butler
Who can resist the star of 300? I had no idea I’d like this movie so much until I stared at Gerry’s abs and heard his forceful rhetoric. He’s sex-on-a-stick. The Scottish accent. The roguish charm. Any character he plays–whether the rough guy or the funny guy–Gerry can do it all. I can’t get enough of him. Gaze into those eyes—drowning pools of blue. Gawk at those rippling muscles–and dream they’re wrapped around you. Be still my heart…and take a deep breath now. Oh Gerry.

2. Viggo Mortensen
The introspective, private man. The artist—painter, writer, photographer, musician. The “I don’t want to be an actor” actor. The trivia on Viggo is amazing—he speaks six languages, has lived all over the world. He can portray a wide variety of characters and make it look so effortless. Viggo IS Aragorn in Lord of the Rings—the most handsome, magnificent king ever. And don’t forget to look at that bum…it’s just about the hottest one you’ll ever see!

3. Christian Bale
The BEST Batman. Ever. The man who picks his roles based on how much of a physical challenge they are. There seems to be no limit as to what he’ll do to his body to get into the character. No comedies for this guy. He’ll beat your ass and you’re going to like it. Mmm…okay. I’ll take my chances and I’m sure I’ll like it if Christian is doing it.

Fourteen brilliantly remastered albums. Buy them.
You’ll feel like you’re in paradise.
Again.

I read an article today that I feel is worth passing on. “Why the Beatles Broke Up” by Mikal Gilmore is in the September issue of Rolling Stone magazine. This is a well-written piece dealing with the volatile and complex relationship of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The stress of Yoko Ono’s presence to the rest of the members and the in-fighting over representation all played a part in the dissolution of the greatest band of all time.
I knew very little about their problems when I started this article. My heart was broken by the time I finished it.
And in the end, they were only human.
Long live the Beatles.

After watching a Detroit Tigers game in the scorching heat of 95 degrees, I walked into one of the Detroit casinos for respite. Time to cool off in the air conditioning with a drink. I decided to look for my favorite slot machine, Wolf Run, and found two right next to each other. A seemingly happy couple were sitting side by side playing away. Why do I think they were happy? They touched, they smiled, they laughed. The easy clues. It was if they were the only people in the loud, packed first floor of the casino.
My friend and I sat farther down the row to wait until they were finished. As we watched the couple take soulful stares at one another while playing the slot machine, I couldn’t help but think. Can you fall in love at the casino?
I looked around me. Couples everywhere. Young. Old. People socializing, spending money, listening to music, eating, drinking. Sure. Why couldn’t you fall in love at the casino?
As the woman and her companion moved down one spot, I took my place in the driver’s seat for Wolf Run, a 2-cent machine. Putting in the $20 that I had intended on spending, and hitting the button for maximum paylines, I waited. First time…nothing. I hit the buttons again and watched with shock while the lines quickly intersected and the amount I won ticked away until it stopped at $518. ”You won,” said the woman next to me, rather unhappily.
Yes. I am proof. You can fall in love at the casino. Wolf Run, I love you!

I’m going to see one of my favorite bands tonight…Def Leppard! They’re touring this summer with two more great bands, Poison and Cheap Trick.
I’ve loved Def Leppard for years. They consistently put on a great show each and every night. It only takes one time to see them before you’re hooked…the harmonic vocals, the riffs and licks from the dual guitars, the hard-beating electric drums, the handsome men!
One of my guilty pleasures can become yours too.
Rock on, boys. I’ll always love you!

Hope everyone is having a GREAT one! This year it has been cool in Michigan, but I don’t mind. The 70s are my favorite temps.

I have one book out for consideration right now:
A contemporary paranormal romance, LOVE ON THE PROWL.
